Government Grants 92.34 sq km Koka Haven In Bhandara

Providing a big increase to disappearing lions, the local govt on Friday accepted the Koka Creatures Haven, 20km from Bhandara. The 92.34 sq km secured place is hardly 10km from New Nagzira and Nagzira wild animals sanctuaries and will act as a gene share for lions and wild animals.

Sources said the suggested sanctuary contains 29 spaces. Out of this, 25 spaces with an place of 8,921.68 hectares were rented out to Woodlands Growth Organization of Maharashtra (FDCM) and four spaces with an place of 313.05 hectares are part of Bhandara department.

The complete sanctuary place comes to 92.34 sq km, comparative to 4,941 soccer areas. TOI on Nov 22 last was the first to review about Koka being informed as a sanctuary. Now visitors from Nagpur will get one more place for touring at just 80km.

"With wealthy bio-diversity and huge plants and creatures, Koka was a fit situation to be announced a secured place. This place is having outstanding paleotropical plants and harbours adequate feed and predator inhabitants in significant amount," a mature forest formal said.

Koka has huge prospective for retaining leading varieties such as lions and panthers. The sanctuary will be an expansion of already current New Nagzira and Nagzira wild animals sanctuaries. Later on the place will be handled as shield area of suggested Nagzira-Navegoan Competition Source which has been organised up for self-evident factors.
